Chicago C2E2 Prep
I'm getting my plans settled for Chicago's big comic book convention, C2E2. Friday through Sunday, March 18-20. I'm not doing a lot of conventions this year, so this is a great place to catch me! Here's what I'm gonna do.
I'll try to be at Table C1 each day around opening time (click here for a PDF map of Artist Alley). I'll try not to leave until they close the doors. I'll take occasional breaks, but I'll put up a sign indicating when I'll be back. I'll be fighting Chicago traffic to get there, a pro registration line to get in (unlike exhibitors, we're not supposed to get in early) but I'll do my best.
At the start of each day, I'll start a paid sketch list. This will probably be from 4-6 names. In between paid sketches, I'll do quick free sketches for kids and such. Bring your kids! They're my future readers, and I want them indoctrinated early! Free sketches are usually portraits of you as a superhero.
If you can't get to my table early, or can't spend $100+ for a paid sketch at my table, I'll be doing two sketching sessions at The Hero Initiative Booth 457 (click here for the C2E2 map page). I plan to charge around $60 for a nice headshot of your favorite character.
Hero Initiative Booth #457
Friday 2:30 - 3:30
Saturday 4:30 - 6:00I won't be selling much original art pages from comic books, and I don't plan to have a sketchbook this year. It's just me and my pencils and markers and my gift of blather (I don't quite have the gift of gab).
The show's a short cab ride away from most of Chicago's best museums, shopping and restaurants. It'll be a great trip for bringing the family, even if your spouse doesn't like funny books. Hope to see you there!
I'll try to be extra diligent in answering questions in this comment thread. Gene
